This is a transcript of the press release profiling Jill when she came to Binley Woods.

Rev Jill Cheverton was the first woman to be ordained by the Bishop of Ripon in 1993. Since then, she has been Vicar of St Agnes (an Anglican Baptist Local Ecumenical Project) in inner city Leeds. Here she set up some exciting and innovative work within the church and the community. Before this, she was a hospital based Paediatric Liaison Health Visitor, a Community Health Visitor and also worked with Ugandan refugees.

Rev Cheverton's appointment to the Church in Binley Woods seems like a match made in heaven. She has Baptist roots in her early Christian life and teaching, and calls herself a zipped up Baptist Anglican and a conforming non-conformist. She shows great respect for both Anglican and Baptist traditions while she is prepared to challenge anything that does not help people find the love of God.

In her spare time, Jill grows fruit and vegetables and produces delicious pickled chutney. She loves fresh air, walking, reading and DIY and hopes to take up golf. Jill is a person of enthusiasm, energy and hope with an inquisitive and enquiring approach to life.
