I wrote this song for the Junior Choir at our church at the time. I wrote it as a kind of antidote to some rather sugary Christmas songs that children’s choirs were singing at the time, and I hope it comes across as enjoyable and that the invitation comes naturally in the song.
I’ve added a Midi file of the music. It’s not a performance I’m afraid - just a Midi rendering of the printed music, so it is there to give you an idea of what it could sound like. I balanced it using the Microsoft GS Wavetable SW Synth Midi device which is available on my PC, and therefore might be on yours too. Of course any General Midi device will work, but the balance between the “vocal” part and the piano accompaniment might need adjustment. (I spent some time trying out different solo voices for the vocal part, and the trumpet sound I used seemed to be the best compromise, though it’s a bit raucous in the descant parts.)
